Override the Default Broadcast Address (Windows 95/98/Me)
Category: Home > Network > Protocols > TCP-IP

This setting overrides the default broadcast address that is derived from the IP address and subnet mask. Primarily the broadcast address is used for NetBIOS name queries.

Open your registry and find the key below.

Create a new DWORD value (or string for Windows 98), named "BroadcastAddress" and set it to the broadcast address in hexadecimal form.

Restart Windows for the change to take effect.

Settings:
System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\MSTCP]
Name: BroadcastAddress
Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value: broadcast address in hexadecimal
